Enjoy the relaxing and calming experience of
hypnosis
What is hypnosis?
Quite simply
it is a narrowed focusing of attention. We all go in and out of
trance states, naturally, every day e.g when we are deeply absorbed
in an activity like reading, playing or watching sport or watching
t.v. How many times have you been in the car only to suddenly arrive
at your destination without realising or found yourself daydreaming
and not heard what someone said? Hypnosis is just an extension of
these states in that your focus of attention is directed by a
therapist instead of yourself. Trance states occur in the
subconscious part of the brain where the emotional and behavioural
patterns of problems are held.
Anxiety,
depression, habits and anger are all examples of negative trance
states.
How does
Hypnotherapy work?
Hypnotherapy
works with the subconscious mind. During the relaxed state of
hypnosis the subconscious mind is able to utilise your resources to
unhook the patterns that hold problems in place, freeing the mind
and allowing you to realise your goals and achieve your full
potential.
Am I in control?
Yes. You are
not asleep or unconscious and you will not accept any suggestion
that you do not agree with. You are aware at all times. Unlike stage
hypnotists I am a clinical therapist and use hypnosis to help you
overcome your problems.
Is it safe?
Yes. Hypnosis
is not harmful in any way if carried out by a registered
professional in a therapeutic way.
What happens in a
session?
Sessions last
for approximately one and a half hours. I gather information around
the problem and together we set specific goals as to what you want
from therapy and how to achieve it. The second part of the session
involves the relaxation/hypnosis where the patterns that hold the
problem in place are broken down. I will teach you skills to be used
that will enhance your life and keep you emotionally well. |
